I think it's time we talked about the real reason there are two different timelines in the Star Wars universe (technically more, if you include Visions, Star Wars Tales, and other stories that aren't part of either the Canon or Legends canon).
The reason for the reboot in 2014 was the unpublished epic fight against Abeloth after "Crucible". The Legacy Comics are an alternative future in which this never happened.
Abeloth returned, and the search for the Mortis Monolith opened a rift in time and space, also known as the World Between Worlds. Abeloth tried to enter it to rule over every timeline. She was stopped by every single character in Star Wars. Luke Skywalker died within the first five minutes. The fight caused instability in the foundation of the universe. Kyp Durron took the pieces of the shattered timeline and tried to rebuild it. In doing so, his soul was split in two. A new Star Wars timeline was born. Kyp's soul was reborn as Ben Solo/Kylo Ren, taking with it the following characteristics: being the son of Han Solo, being attracted to teenagers, and using the Force to torture someone's mind. The other part became General Armitage Hux. a bastard with anger issues and a planet destroyer.
Thanks to Kyp, we have the new canon. I think we should thank him for that.
