What's the best Video Game of all time, and why is it Death Stranding?

Imo it would probably be MGS2. Kind of a hot take but I think while video games technically are art a lot of them are 'art' the way that like technically a drawing of a cartoon dinosaur on a box of cereal is 'art'. Or 'art' the way that like a soap opera or one of those 'young adults in college falling in love shows made for 14 year old girls' on the CW are technically 'art'.

But MGS2 is one of the rare around 1/4th of games where I would truly say there was passion behind the story, themes, the details, etc. It's not just 'fuck it it's a sneaking game the story is uhhh you have to sneak around some soldiers and shit who fucking cares man it's just call of duty but with sneaking'. The story and themes are clearly well thought out to the point that the literal game files and meta of the marketing were worked into the whole thing. It's a meta game where it being a video game you are playing on your PS2 is literally a canonical element of the storytelling but not just for 'woah that's cool' points. It has something to say about it too. And while I think many people give Kojima a little too much credit for saying essentially what many others (especially in the cyberpunk genre) have been saying for decades about how social media is going to completely fuck the human race up and obliterate our culture until we're back to being cavemen, he still said it in his own unique way that's a great experience to play through.

Code Veronica made me want to jump off a bridge. Legitimately such an infuriating game design-wise. I just had to skip it and go to the next RE game.
