How do you feel about the Sith being truly done after the ST?

A big thing the PT introduced was the notion of the Rule of Two and the further idea that what you see in ROTJ is the final ending of the Sith. The EU before the PT already kind of ignored that notion by having Palpatine return and also having many people who are basically Sith roaming around in the NR era (if it has a red lightsaber, mainly uses the dark side of the Force, and wants to destroy the Jedi it's basically a Sith lets be real here). But with the reboot one of the hopes many had were that the 'no Sith after ROTJ' rule would be applied.

You had Snoke, who at the time was seemingly his own thing (if you watch TFA and TLJ without knowledge of TROS you may think he's some new type of Force user who embraces the dark and light side). Kylo Ren was basically a Sith like many of those 'totally not Sith' characters of the old EU but he was struggling and from the start they made it clear that he's going to have a reversal of Anakin's arc where he is 'seduced to the light side'.

TROS kind of ignored this 'no Sith' rule again by bringing Palpatine back. But now we may truly be able to say that we're done with Sith in future stories after this era. However with news of Starfighter having a lightsaber duel it's very possible that we're going to see another 'basically a Sith Lord' character appearing yet again with a red lightsaber.

How do you feel about this? I'm mixed. I think it's kind of pointless to have an evil red lightsaber wielding Force user and go 'no they're not a Sith, they're called uhhhhh a Seth.' The whole reason people tire of Sith is because it's been done so much before. We know what to expect not only with ideology but also with aesthetics. Give us something completely new. What if the next bad guy is a dude with a weird tentacle thing that can suck the life Force out of people and his whole thing isn't 'embracing the dark side' but instead 'Robin Hood-ing energy from Jedi to heal the sick in some twisted revolutionary crusade to overthrow the New Republic/Jedi'. That's more interesting than 'Varth Dader' or 'Rylo Ken' or whatever 'guy with a red stick' that they can pull out of their ass.

But on the other hand if we're talking in universe I really don't see how you could easily handwave away the Sith and say 'yeah they're never returning ever again nobody ever again will ever decide to stop being a Jedi, start using the dark side, and go around killing people with a red sword'. If this is our criteria for 'basically a Sith guy' then I feel like this guy will exist until people forget how to build lightsabers or something 500,000 years after the time of Luke Skywalker.

I think the problem is that the general public watch Star Wars to see people have glowstick fights. I think it's a hard sell to promote a movie or TV show where the Jedi play a prominent role (the mythical Rey movie anyone?) and not have a lightsaber wielder for them to come up against.

Stuff like the Vong or the Nihil work well in the books but anyone who consumes a single piece of Star Wars media outside of a mainline movie is by definition a sicko.

I just struggle to see Disney or Lucasfilm IPD or whoever signing off on there never being another lightsaber fight post the end of the sequels.

I do think so long as there is an order calling itself the jedi there will be elements who model themselves around their ancient enemies
