korosmajor wrote: Wed Apr 01, 2026 5:02 am Just finished reading The New Rebellion a couple days ago. Enjoyed it a lot more than I expected! Kueller was a cool villain and I enjoyed the senate bombing investigation plot.
Super underrated book. One of the best of the Bantam era, and has some of the most startling similarities to the Sequel era in canon lol
Agreed! I see what you mean about the similarities to the Sequel era, Kueller's army does have a certain First Order feel to them. Plus Leia striking off on her own (and with Wedge's forces) to confront Kueller instead of waiting for the senate to approve her actions reminds me a bit of the way the Resistance operates.
I wasn’t even thinking of the Resistance stuff but that’s a great point. I was more thinking of the New Republic’s integration of imperials into their senate and the sway they held, plus the rising of a remnant under a failed student of Luke.

Yeah, Kueller's forces sort of feel like a version of the First Order which was never able to acquire enough power and resources to wage the war that the First Order does (droid-staffed ships rather than humans, sabotage bombings rather than superweapons). Good point about him being a former student of Luke's. I don't know that much about the integration of imperials in the senate cause I haven't read Bloodline yet, but that seems like an interesting plot point

Let's just say the book's Leia plot shares a *lot* with Bloodline...
